Traditional Shaolin Kungfu

Shaolin Kung Fu (少林功夫) is a famous and influential style of Chinese martial arts that originated from the Shaolin Temple in Henan, China. It combines physical combat techniques, Chan (Zen) Buddhism principles, and internal energy cultivation. Known for its dynamic movements, acrobatics, and powerful strikes, Shaolin Kung Fu includes a vast array of kicks, punches, stances, weapons training, and forms (套路). It also integrates qigong (氣功) and meditation, which strengthen the body while training the mind to be calm, focused, and disciplined.

For kids, practicing Shaolin Kung Fu builds confidence, discipline, and self-control while improving balance, flexibility, and coordination. It helps develop physical strength, quick reflexes, and a healthy lifestyle, all while being fun and exciting!

Wushu/Taolu

In modern Wushu competitions, Taolu is a standardized performance system judged based on difficulty, execution, and presentation. One key aspect of this is compulsory forms (规定套路, Guīdìng Tàolù), which are pre-designed routines created by the Chinese Wushu Association. These routines ensure that all competitors follow the same movements, allowing for fair scoring and preserving traditional techniques in a structured format. Compulsory forms help maintain a unified standard for Wushu while allowing athletes to demonstrate their power, flexibility, and technical precision.

Whether for self-defense, performance, or discipline, Taolu plays a vital role in preserving and passing down Chinese martial arts traditions while evolving into a global sport.

Sanda/Chinese Boxing

Kickboxing is a combat sport that combines elements of karate, boxing, and Muay Thai to create a fast-paced and dynamic form of striking. It involves kicking, punching, and knee strikes while following specific rules and techniques that vary by style or competition. Kickboxing can be practiced as both a fitness activity and a competitive sport.

The sport emphasizes speed, power, and agility, with practitioners using a combination of footwork, defensive maneuvers, and offensive strikes to outmaneuver their opponents. It is known for its intense cardiovascular workout and helps improve strength, endurance, coordination, and self-defense skills. There are different styles of kickboxing, including American Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and K-1, each with its unique approach to technique and rules.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi (太極) is a traditional Chinese martial art known for its slow, flowing movements, deep breathing, and meditative quality. Generally, Tai Chi (tàijí) was designed with Taoist principles in mind around 300 years ago. It is often practiced for health, relaxation, and stress relief, as well as for self-defense. Tai Chi focuses on balance, flexibility, and mental concentration, helping practitioners improve their coordination, circulation, and mind-body connection.

The practice consists of soft, controlled movements that mimic natural patterns and emphasize grace, fluidity, and calmness. Tai Chi is often described as a moving meditation, as the slow pace encourages mindfulness and inner peace. It is typically practiced in a series of forms (套路), each of which consists of a sequence of movements that flow into one another.
